Fran Massino is a Baltimore, MD based tattoo artist who practices traditional Japanese style tattooing. Mixing Japanese wood block prints, his own personal style, and influence from Japanese tattoo artists such as Horiyoshi II, Henning Jorgensen, Chris O’Donnell, and Chris Trevino, Fran creates pieces that speak to the history of traditional Japanese art while using clean, modern tattoo applications.
Having spent countless hours studying the art of traditional Japanese tattooing, Fran has gained a deep understanding of the style, tradition, lore, and rhythm that make up these timeless tattoos. Fran also works in the American Traditional style, often using design influence from Japanese tattoos to create something wholly unique. Fran is committed to pushing his limits as an artist by providing an exceptional tattoo experience, and by having an encouraging and creative attitude toward collaborating on tattoo design.
Fran has been studying tattooing since 2007 at the age of 18, and has been tattooing professionally since 2012. In 2014, Fran received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Towson University, where he studied illustration, painting, printmaking, and art history.
